Susan (Siw) Daniels is Avellino’s Chief Scientific Officer, bringing more than 25 years of experience developing molecular disease technology and diagnostics solutions. Before joining Avellino, Siw was Vice President of R&D at IDbyDNA, where she led the commercialization of Precision Metagenomics applications for infectious disease. Prior to this, she was the Head of Business for the Roche CLIA laboratory in San Jose, Calif., which provides molecular diagnostic testing services for non-invasive prenatal testing, along with oncology testing services for pharmaceuticals.
Her work includes leading the research and development teams for the commercialization of the world’s first blood-based genomic test for diagnosing obstructive coronary artery disease. Siw has also held senior research and development roles for Incyte Genomics and Sequana Therapeutics, early pioneers using genomic information to understand the molecular basis of human disease.
Siw received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Wales in Cardiff; conducted postdoctoral research as a fellow at the Welcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford; and earned her B.Sc. with Honors in Biochemistry from the University of Wales, Cardiff College.
